We would like to inform the members of the Christmas Savings Club of the current state of matters which may affect the continued running of the Savings Club beyond this year’s annual pay-out.
Unfortunately, the two long standing managers of the Savings Club, Sue and David, who have given up a massive amount of their time over the years, to be here every Friday night to collect savings from club members, have taken the decision to retire with effect from the end of the year. This means that, unless we can find a minimum of two people to take over the running of the Christmas Savings Club, we will have to close the savings club for deposits from December 7th. 2024.
Further to this unfortunate state of affairs, we are having difficulty in sourcing a bank or building society account which will house the deposits of the members of the Christmas Savings Club. Most banks and building societies are unwilling to allow large amounts of cash to be withdrawn from these accounts, and would rather we pay out the savings to the club members by bank transfer.

We will therefore be carrying out a survey of savings club members over the next few weeks in an attempt to find out if savings club members are willing to receive their pay-out via bank transfer. Dependant on the outcome of this survey, and also if we can find two members of the social club to run the savings club, will depend on whether the savings club will continue.
If any club member(s) wishes to be considered for the position of managing the Christmas Savings Club, please apply to psscipswich@outlook.com in the first instance.

Works affecting the Bar and Cellar will take place on Wednesday 21st. and Thursday 22nd. February 2024.
Thanks to the generosity of Greene King, our bar and cellar will undergo a complete refit on Wednesday 21st. and Thursday 22nd. February.
This work will take approximately a day and a half, and because of the complexity of the work, we will be unable to serve any draught beers on Wednesday. If the work were to over run, it may also mean no draught beers on Thursday as well. Hopefully this will not be the case, but as the cellar chiller will be switched off, and the beer dispenser replaced, it may take the equipment some time to achieve ideal conditions for serving draught beers.
All pipework within the cellar feeding to the bar will be replaced, with new T-Bars, taps and pump handles fitted to the bar. There will be a new separate dispensing system fitted for the cask ales, and improved dispensing gases for the draught beers and lagers.
As our pipework is outdated, and the dispensing system prone to failure, this is a welcome upgrade to our beer delivery systems, which we hope will provide improved service to all our customers for many years to come.
We appreciate your patience whilst Greene King undertake these very necessary works.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
